Brava – starts the 2016-2017 School Year

Nova Sintra, September 19, 2016 – The 2016-2017 School Year officially started this Monday under the motto "All and all, without distinction of any kind, have the right to a quality education! ".

The parish hall in Nova Sintra was the stage for the central event. Teachers, students, heads of decentralized State services, representatives of religious denominations , local elected officials, national deputies, guests, parents and guardians formed the audience, which despite the heavy rain that fell during the meeting did not make anyone budge.

Mayor Elect Orlando Balla left a message to Teachers "Teachers have an enormous responsibility . And, assuming these responsibilities with courage, with a broad vision of excellence, I think that Brava will be well served ".

Regarding the challenges for this School Year , Orlando Burgo, Delegate for Education on the Island, stressed "we face the challenges naturally... these are concerns that we have been tackling when exercising our function as a teacher.

We will continue to fight for the reduction of school leaving, especially in Basic Education , more specifically in the 7th and 8th years and also in Secondary Education, we will continue to fight for the improvement of the performance of the functions of the teaching class and we will strongly bet that our children, our young people, have an increasingly better quality education , something we all aspire to ".

To the educational community, Burgo addressed in the following terms " I hope everyone will be strongly involved in the schools, in the work that will be carried out throughout this school year, so that we will be successful ".

The act was presided over by the President of the University Institute of Education of Cape Verde, Antônio De Jesus Tavares.
