Resource Room promotes training in Braille domain

Two sessions have already been held and the last one will take place on the 27th of May on Braille writing, the instruments used, concepts, writing signs and numbers, among other topics.

City of Nova Sintra, 20th of May – Training is provided by the Resource Room and takes place at the Youth Centre, on Fridays, in three training sessions, aimed at primary and secondary school teachers.

It should be noted that the aforementioned action covers topics such as the concept, instruments used in writing, the braille cell, writing, the relationship between dots and letters of the alphabet, sign and formation of numbers, units of measurement, operating signs and the relationship between letters, numbers and dots.

“Aims to train trainees with basic knowledge in the field of the Braille system, mainly those who work directly with the student Marley Lobo, but also extend to everyone who directly or indirectly will need to equip themselves with instruments that allow them to deal with cases of visual impairment” , says Alfredo Gomes, professor in charge of the Resource Room.

According to the psychologist, Maria Clareta Maia, “the initial idea was restricted to the teachers who work at Escola Chã de Sousa, with the participation of the pedagogical coordinators, with a view to meeting the educational needs of the visually impaired student Marley Lobo. But, taking into account other visually impaired students who attend the 3rd cycle of EB and secondary education, it was decided to broaden the target audience.”

The first two sessions were held on the 6th and 13th of May and the last one will take place on the 27th.
