BRAVA ISOLATED FROM THE REST OF THE COUNTRY: LIBERDADI SHIP DETACHED ON THE BEACH FOR INSPECTION

According to Luís Delgado, AMP Inspector in Cidade da Praia, “the inspection has already been carried out, but the report is in the process of being prepared, which will be forwarded to São Vicente for a final decision.”

City of Nova Sintra, 20th of May – Liberdadi, the only ship that makes the connection between the island of Brava and the rest of the country, has been stuck in Porto da Praia since Wednesday, 18th, due to lack of inspection by the Maritime and Port Agency (AMP).

In statements issued on its Facebook page, the company CV Fast Ferry advanced that “ due to the unavailability of AMP- Agência Marítima e Portuária, in carrying out the inspection service to release the trips of the ship “LIBERDADI”, the inspectors having refused the service claiming who had personal matters to resolve, CV Fast Ferry is prevented from carrying out the trips scheduled for today, Friday, on the PRAIA-FOGO-BRAVA route, and tomorrow, a holiday, where the same inspectors are not working, leaving the trips to be scheduled from Friday.

“ Isla Brava is once again affected by isolation due to this situation. And how long will the Island be isolated with serious risks to the lives of its people, while this iron fist between AMP and CV Fast Ferry persists” , vented a citizen from Brave.

The company regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and people who were directly or indirectly affected by the suspension of travel and asks those affected to contact the usual services.

As far as we can ascertain, there is still no precise date for the resumption of maritime connections by the vessel Liberdadi.
