FERNANDA BURGO: REASONS WHICH LEAD HER TO BE HEAD OF LIST (MPD) FOR THE BRAVA MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

Nova Sintra, July 26, 2016 – Exclusively to our newspaper, Fernanda Burgo pointed out the reasons that led her to accept heading the List for the Municipal Assembly of Brava in the next Elections on the 4th of September.

“There are several reasons that led me to run as head of the list, firstly by saying yes to my Party (MPD) and making my contribution to the development of our dear Brava. It's just that during those 4 years, as a councilor in the Municipality of Brava, I noticed that the PAICV Government mortgaged the development of the island merely because the Autarchy was not of its political color. However, it is fair to highlight Mr. Ex-Minister of Culture ( Mário Lúcio ) who made a huge effort to promote the island, at the Cultural level. I think that with an MPD government and a Chamber and Assembly of the same political color, Ilha Brava will have a lot to gain since it has already begun to bear the first fruits, based on positive discrimination towards the island. Another reason is to lend the island a female voice that, together with President Orlando Balla, will be the voice of the population of Brave in the Municipality so that the Assembly has an active role in communicating with the community”.

Fernanda Fidalgo de Pina Burgo, is 46 years old, married, mother of 3 children ( two girls and a boy ) and is a teacher trained by the Instituto Pedagógico da Praia – Ilha de Santiago.

Since 2012, she has been Councilor for Culture, Education, Social Development and Gender, at Brava City Council.

She served as Coordinator of Adult Education from 1997 to 2008 and was a Deputy of the Nation between 2008 and 2011.
