Municipalities: Manuel Gomes and Lenine Carvalho make PAICV duo for Brava

Manuel Ramos Gomes (pictured left), with a degree in nautical sciences and head of Enapor's Ship Assistance and Pilotage Services, is candidate of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) for the presidency of the Municipality of Brava in this year's municipal elections . He will team up with regional leader José Lenine Carvalho (right photo), current delegate from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment, who will head the list for the Municipal Assembly.

The choice of the two names came out of the extended meeting with militants and local leaders held this week in the city of Nova Sintra. With this decision, the PAICV intends to convey the total unity of the party around this candidacy. According to Clóvis Silva, a member of the Regional Political Commission (CPR) of the PAICV and National Deputy, his party has set itself the goal of winning the municipal elections on the island.

“Our commitment is mainly towards recovering the Câmara da Brava, lost in the last municipal councils. It is a challenge that is within our reach, because the current executive of Orlando Balla is mismanaging the island, putting several families out of work”, says Clóvis Silva.

The young politician warns that his party is working on a list that includes new faces – it includes cadres with experience and people committed to the island – who promise to work more and more to develop Brava and combat the existing imbalance between the countryside and the city . “The MpD team that led the local council in the last four years was far from the people of Brave”, says the same source.

Clóvis Silva says he is confident of an excellent result in the upcoming elections. Its bet on the victory of the PAICV is based on the unity and commitment shown by all the militants and friends of the “Strela Negra” party in Brava.

For Silva, who will be the director of his party's local government campaign on the island, the duo Manuel Gomes/Lenine Carvalho for the Municipal Chamber and Assembly gives all the guarantees of a selfless work in favor of the development of the island of Flores, because it will have a list made up of competent people committed to Brava.

With a degree in nautical sciences, Manuel Ramos Gomes is currently head of Enapor's Ship Assistance and Pilotage Services. He held other important positions - he was responsible for the Port Delegation between 1996-2002 on Brava, the island where he was born. Ramos also held, for several years, the position of delegate of Enapor in Santo Antão.

José Lenine Carvalho, head of the PAICV list for the Municipal Assembly, is a technical engineer in the area of Veterinary Medicine and heads the Regional Political Commission. For some years he has held the position of delegate of the Ministry of Rural Development in Brava.
